My previous work was in Entertainment Lighting as a Lighting Designer, Automated Lighting Programmer and Lighting Project Manager for over thirty years, involving over 400 productions including Plays, Musicals, Product launches, Events, Live TV and lighting buildings. This work has taken me all over the world, including USA, Japan, Middle East, Australia, Europe and China, entailing working with international teams to tight deadlines.
Favourite shows included helping create the world’s largest water park show in Shenzhen in China in 09; Wella International Trend Vision Awards in both Lisbon in 08 and Paris in 2010 (both available on YouTube). Sunset Boulevard was an excellent musical, particularly the Broadway version. Cisco systems shows in LA in 02 & San Francisco 03 were very expansive and included glimpses of the future of the internet. With respect to world history, both the Free South Africa concert at (old) Wembley stadium, for and with Nelson Mandela in attendance, and Roger Water’s The Wall at Potsdamer Platz, with the largest live audience ever at that time, were significant events. Those two events were preceded by Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage in Vegas in 1990.
